Gallery with a viewer
This is the same gallery our photography page uses. It was not built as a demo for this page, it is the component you would get.
Try it out
A live demo. Play with it, nothing is sent or stored.
What the gallery rests on
Photos are the heaviest part of a website. The gallery publishes every image in several sizes and modern formats, so a phone downloads a phone sized version rather than the camera original. Without that, one page of finished work weighs more than the rest of the site.
The viewer works by touch, mouse and keyboard, closes with a key and returns focus to the photo it opened from. It sounds like a detail, but it is the difference between a gallery anyone can use and one you cannot leave without a mouse.
For construction firms there is one more condition: the facts belong next to the photo. A photo without a place, a year and a scope is not a reference, it is a picture.
When it makes no sense
When you have ten phone snaps in poor light. The gallery enlarges them and the flaws show; three good photos beat twenty weak ones.
And when the gallery replaces a description of the work. A viewer complements what you built, it does not explain it.
Where it matters most
