My name is Vit Hofman. Before I returned to code full time, I walked through production halls, industrial sites and offices as a safety officer. That experience is why I do not start a website by drawing, but by asking.

How I got here
Not a straight path. In hindsight every turn makes sense.

I started writing my own pages and tools. Code never stopped being a hobby, even during the years I made a living another way.

I saw hundreds of operations from the inside: production halls, workshops, warehouses, industrial sites. I learned to ask how work really happens, not how it looks in a directive.

How I think about the work
A website must solve something
Bring enquiries, cut phone calls, simplify ordering. If we cannot say what should improve, there is no point building.
Speed is part of the content
Fewer people read a slow site. It is not a technical detail, it is the first thing a visitor judges, even without realising it.
Simplicity is extra work
Cramming everything onto a page is easy. Deciding what does not belong takes longer, and that is what you are paying me for.
The site must survive without me
An admin you can use yourself. Data that is yours. No lock-in to a single supplier.
Why I work from a forest and from a cafe
I run no office and no agency machinery. I work where my head is clear, whether that is a shelter by the woods, the seaside or a cafe. You pay for the delivered result, not for my overheads. I am happy to travel for a meeting across the country, the rest we settle online or by phone faster than in a two hour meeting.

From workplace safety to clean code
For fifteen years I have handled workplace safety and fire protection for companies. I still do it and I still stand behind it. What wore me down is the ratio: how much time the paperwork eats and how little is left for the shop floor. A safety officer responsible for hundreds of people retypes spreadsheets instead of standing where the accidents actually happen.
So the same things come back again and again: a fire extinguisher blocked once more, a pallet sticking out into the walkway. Not because nobody knows how to fix it, but because there is no time and no tooling for it. So I started writing the tooling myself:
- a digital accident log that runs the whole case file, not just a list
- a digital visitor book with training and handover of risks
- a community site where safety officers help each other
- a shop with digital products and document templates
- a system for online workplace safety and fire protection courses
Well written software helps a company more than a stack of paper
I have been coding since I was fifteen and today it is the trade I live by. I have not left safety behind and I am not leaving it: I keep doing it through five of my own applications, which strip the paperwork out of it and hand the time back to the shop floor. I build websites for the same reason I started coding: so a company has less work, not more.
I tried it outside safety once as well. I built TOPgranulky.cz, a shop for premium dog food with the content and advice that demanding owners look for. The site worked and the orders came in. It ended on logistics: for oversized parcels I never managed to agree terms with the carriers that made any sense.
It is not a pretty ending, but it taught me exactly what I tell clients today. A website can bring the enquiry in. From that moment the rest of the company has to keep up, and that is no longer the website's job.
